Cone mum on PBA row
MANILA, Philippines — Ginebra coach Tim Cone, as each and every PBA coach should, is not making public his thoughts on the very sensitive issue troubling the PBA these days.
Cone would rather talk about something else, including the coming season, the PBA’s 43rd, which on paper is scheduled to start on Dec. 17.
But the current impasse seemed to have put everything on hold - not until the PBA board, mainly the team owners, come up with a solution.
The controversy surrounds the trade that involved powerhouse San Miguel Beer and tailender Kia, and sent this year’s top pick, 6-foot-8 Fil-German Christian Standhardinger to SMB in exchange for three bench players and a future draft pick.
Many felt it was a one-sided deal favoring San Miguel Beer.
