MANILA, Philippines -  The Philippines will use the 19th Asian Seniors Women’s Volleyball Championship from Aug. 9-17 in Muntinlupa and Alonte gym in Laguna as its final buildup for the Southeast Asian Games  competitions which fire off right after the event.

Led by Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago, Kim Fajardo, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Jovelyn Gonzaga, the Nationals also hope to cash in on the favorable draw which groups them with Kazakhstan and Hong Kong in Group A of the four-division field in the eight-day tournament featuring 14 teams.

The Phl squares off with Hong Kong on Aug. 9 and Kazakhstan on Aug. 11 at the Alonte gym.

The Phl is also seeking to improve on its 12th place finish in the event’s last edition in China two years ago.
