SMB irked by new calls

Game 4 of the 2017 PBA Commissioners Cup Finals saw another physical battle with TnT Katropa prevailing to knot the series at 2-2. But as far as the San Miguel Beermen are concerned, there were some weird calls made by game officials.

Most of the calls came in the fourth period which saw TnT capitalize on the foul-plagued big men of SMB. With a seemingly insurmountable lead, the Beermen raised the white flag only in the last minute of the quarter.

“May mga bago na naman - yung traveling,” said SMB forward Arwind Santos.

The former PBA MVP explained that the moves they are doing were also being done by TnT but the referees played blind.

“Samantalang dati, yung mga move na iyon eh… ang masama neto traveling, daming calls hindi naman balance. Yung mga players naman nila hindi tinatawagan. Yun lang. Parang inconsistent lang talaga.”

The Beermen did turn the ball over 17 times and such contributed to their downfall. San Miguel head coach Leo Austria feels that the traveling calls were not the ones he grew up with in all his years in the PBA.
