Isaiah Thomas, Lance Stephenson spar over comments on heartfelt post about Paul George
What started as an Instagram post from Lance Stephenson pleading for teammate Paul George to stay with the Indiana Pacers turned into so much more with a little help from Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas on Wednesday night.
Stephenson, who was selected by the Pacers in the same draft as George, wrote this heartfelt message to the 27-year-old as a caption to a photo of the two of them.
Despite the sentimental nature of the post, Thomas didn't waste the opportunity to troll Stephenson in the comments section with a bit of harsh reality.
The comment sparked a back-and-forth between the two, one that ended in a playful manner after a rather contentious start.
Of course, Thomas' Celtics are one of several teams that have been linked to George since it came out that he intends to sign elsewhere when his contract is up in 2018.
Stephenson and Thomas aren't the only two players weighing in on George's future: Washington Wizards All-Star guard John Wall told ESPN's The Undefeated earlier this week that he is recruiting George in hopes that the 27-year-old will push for a trade to the nation's capital.
