Blackwater taps ‘Vince Carter’ of Europe
Trevis Simpson hopes to bring his highlight reels to Blackwater the way he did in his career as a Vince Carter play-alike after signing with the Elite as import in the PBA Governors’ Cup next month.
Simpson, a high-flying 6-foot-5 guard, arrived Thursday after his stint in a professional league in France and he is excited to bring his act with a young and hungry team in Blackwater.
“We have high expectations as a team,” said the 25-year-old Simpson during the team’s launching with its tieup with the Hope for Lupus foundation Monday at the PBA Café in Quezon City.
“We’re going to work hard, we’re going to try to play together and we’re going to play the game to the best of our ability. It if causes us to win games, we’ll be happy for that,” added Simpson.
A product of the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Simpson played for Hyères-Toulon recently where he averaged 10.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting nearly 35% from the three-point area.
According to Simpson, it was his father who noticed he jumps like Vince Carter, a Slam Dunk champion in the NBA whose YouTube highlight features some of the best slam dunk plays.
